Cyanide poisoning and explosives are used to catch coral reef saltwater fish and live coral for the hobbyist, marine pet trade across many parts of the world. Leaving reef wastelands and causing destruction to the natural habitat of the coral reef. Most, if not all, saltwater fish sold in aquariums are live caught from the wild.
